What I Wore: Hey There Cowboy.

May 6, 2013 Kia René

I have been absolutely in love with these cowboy boots! I actually wear them much more than anticipated. They are one of those pieces in my mind that go with most things. I'm a pretty simple girl when it comes to getting dressed so the ease of just throwing on a dress and boots is so up my alley! Do you own a pair? What's your go to outfit for them?

The Details:

  1. Dress: Dillards Outlet
  2. Boots: Coyote Cowboy
  3. Earrings: Nordstrom Rack

Hot Pants // Opinions Needed.

April 27, 2013 Kia René

It's that time of year again when I really need y'all's opinions. Now, if you know me in really life you know I love pushing the boundaries a little when it comes to featuring my best ass...et. I like to walk the line between intriguing and inappropriate. It's a very thin line and I think when the challenge rises I walk it pretty well. When it comes to my latest obsession of riskiness is hot pants. I've already thought of ways to try and class them up with a flowy tank and a blazer. But what I really want are your thoughts! Would you wear them? Are they inappropriate? Do you need them in your life now? Let me know!

All shorts are from Asos.

What I Wore: Sweet Stacks.

April 26, 2013 Kia René

I think I would describe my evolving style as 'I want to look nice but some days this is what you get'. I think that hits it on the head. I am in love with this shirt. I got it the last time I was in Dallas and I love the colors. It's semi dressy but I didn't want to wait for the "perfect" occasion to wear it. So, I threw on a pair of American Apparel Riding Pants (another fav of mine) and kept it super casual.

While I'm thinking about it, let's have a completely honest conversation. This might offend some but it's out there so we're talking about it. I absolutely hate leggings as pants. "But Kia" you might say, "aren't those leggings you have on?". The answer is no. But they are close. They have the comfort of leggings with a material thickness of pants. These riding pants have quickly become my go to for causal lounging around days.

The Details:

  1. Top: Dillards Outlet
  2. Pants: American Apparel Riding Pant
  3. Flats: Talbots
  4. Earrings: Nordstrom Rack

I'd Rather Be Wearing: Stussy x Leather.

April 25, 2013 Kia René

Considering I have yet to get out of my sports bra and delicates today I would much rather be wearing this Stussy crewneck. I am all about crewnecks right now. I think they are perfect for transitioning from winter to spring. It's that time of year where its cold in the morning and by the time you're out and about the suns blazing. Layering a tank under a crewneck is the perfect way to have the best of both worlds. When it warms up take the sweatshirt off and tie it around your waist or toss it in your bag! I also love the leather shorts! I want some badly. And you can't go wrong with the animal print sandals. For an outfit that would otherwise be kind of blah they are a good way to throw in a statement piece! Keep the lip color fun but neutral and you're good to go!

What I Wore: Peach Stripes

April 24, 2013 Kia René

First off, a huge round of applause for the weather in Atlanta this weekend. It was what spring dreams are made of. This spring I have been all about keeping it simple. My go to's are quickly becoming these stud earrings and some sort of boat neck top. If you see me it's almost guaranteed that's what I'm in. I love not having to really think about what I'm wearing. As for the bottom, I love this skater skirt. I have been loving how people have been styling them on other blogs so casually. This skirt could easily be dressed up or down but I love the idea of it with a loose fitting tank and some chucks. Beware, these skirts are not for windy days or days in which you have to be super active. I tried to do some spins for you guys to show the shape of the skirt and well, let's just say that Tii (my photographer) has a pretty good relationship with my butt cheeks now. So yeah, no spins in this ladies!

This is the closest thing I have to a flattering, blog appropriate, spin shot. The shots that followed this one are risk-ay! Let's just say a guy walking by with his dog started blushing a bit. I should work on my modesty.

The Details:

  1. Top: Forever21
  2. Skirt: Forever21
  3. Flats: Talbots
  4. Earrings: Nordstrom Rack

Birchbox: April 2013

April 23, 2013 Kia René

This month I subscribed to my first box, Birchbox to be specific. About two years ago I noticed the blossoming trend of boxes filled with goodies that you can get delivered to you once a month. I was intrigued by the concept of it then but I finally jumped on the bandwagon. I signed up this month and now for $10 a month I'll get a box of sample sized beauty products (until I cancel my subscription).

There are lots of box subscriptions out there but I chose Birchbox due to my developing interest in makeup and beauty products. They are who I heard of first as far as the whole box concept so I figured why not start there. For my first box I wasn't blown away but I pleased!

The Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-On is nice! I haven't used it to enough to know if it's reducing puffiness. But I do keep it in the refrigerator and it feels oh so good when I roll it on in the morning! The Whish shaving cream is foam-free and is claimed to leave your legs feeling super soft. However, I haven't used it because I hate the smell of blueberries. These too items are cool, but definitely won't become go-to's!

I love the way both of these products smell! At this point, I have no use for the rejuvenating hair serum but I might still put it on because it smells so good! The Caudalie oil leaves a light fresh scent where ever you apply it. I like wearing it on my wrists but it can be used on your hair and nails too!

This is a color changing nail polish in Poppy by Ruby Wing. I love it although I have not seen it change color yet. That is fine though because I think this hot pink is perfect! I'm excited to paint all my nails with this this summer! So overall, I like the contents of this box but I'm definitely eager to see if it gets better!

What I Wore: CakedCulture

April 22, 2013 Kia René

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." That quote by Henry David Thoreau is one that I often think of. There are so many times that I've pictured what CakedCulture could be like if I stopped inhibiting myself with fear. The unknown is just a scary place at times. But I think I'm finally ready to take the step to commit and kick my fears behind me. With that being said, I'm in the process of meeting with people to bring CakedCulture shirts to life!

When styling the t-shirt I wanted to keep it casual and dress it up a little to show that t-shirt can go with more than ripped jeans or sweat pants. I actually plan to do a separate post on them soon but these Easy Jeans from American Apparel have quickly become my favorite jeans. These pumps are by J.Crew and I have them in three colors. They are so easy to toss on and work with so many different outfits. They are my go to heel.

The Details:

    1. T-Shirt: CakedCulture (available soon!)
    2. Blazer: Loft
    3. Jeans: American Apparel
    4. Heels: J.Crew - Mona
    5. Earrings: Nordstrom Rack
